ok so in my tank i have some zoos, mushrooms, leather finger, and green star
i recently added hammer coral, feather duster, kenya tree, and some mushrooms
the mushrooms, kenya, and the reat of my corals are doing great but the feather duster and hammer coral look horrible... i checked what i thought were important parameters like ammonia nitrite nitrate phosphate and ph. and all were normal
the hammer looked so bad yesterday I ran every test i had
my tank parameters were: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, 8.2 pH, 0 phosphate, 200 kh, and temp 82, calcium 340, and salinity 1.20.
When I saw the salinity and calciu, I acted to adjust the levels.
I did a series of small water changes and increased the salinity to 1.24 over 24 hours. I added purple up and checked the levels today and the shot to 480
the hammer is really tanking now. yest it was just the one branch and today its 4 out of 5 branches. I haven't seen any changes since I corrected the levels but it's still too soon to see anything
what else could be wrong?? all my other corals are happy and healthy

ok the hammer coral has brown jelly disease...
the rest of the corals are still thriving
I can tell they are annoyed by the salinity move but seem to be ok
so i guess i'll have to cet off the affected branch and do an iodine dip for the rest of it?

I have been reading as much as possible about brown jelly disease but there seems to be conflicting information
ok so it's bacterial in nature and will kill my coral at a very fast rate (which explains why it took an entire branch in 36 hours)
I was told to brake off the affected branch and dip the rest in Lugol's solution
Now here is where the sotry conflicts
some say that's all that needs to be done, one source said it needs to be treated with an antibiotic, and another source said there is no cure it will eventually kill the coral
what is it? does anyone know?
