ok so my aunt got me this awesome hammer coral i have had it for a week and i have never seen its feeder tenticles so i have not put any food on his waving hammerey things.
Do they need spot feedings of mysis and other food? I have 2 250 watt metal halide fixture on the tank, the tank is a 90 gallon. he opens up real nice and big when the lights are on.
Thanks,
Connor

the hammers are the feeders. I have a branching hammer thats growing like crazy. I have never seen it eat mysis and brine just float right of its tentacles after a few seconds. I dose dts phyto and kent zooplankton. My torch, one of my frogspawns, and brains take mysis and brine. Try to feed it mysis or something and see if it takes it if not dont bother directly feeding it.

I have mine for about 3 months now, and have never seen it eat anything either. Mine was at the middle of the tank, and just about 2 months ago I moved it to the top of the tank and it is so big and bright.

Same experience here, but mine has gone from two to almost a dozen heads in only six months. I dose with phytoplankton and zooplex and he's under 2x96W PC bulbs, so something there makes him happy! :)

Mine probably has like 10 heads right now, and it has like 5 good size heads that are starting to grow. They have very nice color as well. I think I made add phytoplankton.

mine grabs and holds the free floating particals of food in the tank. It closes up after catching peices of food. So I would immiagin that it is eating!

That was imo a good prize here in ohio a hammer with 11 heads would go for like 100 bucks!
