Hey, i'm tryin to figure out how to plumb my CL. I'm going to get the sequence hammerhead pump. I'm going to use the two returns drilled in the overflow to feed it, and then run the exit piping over the back of the tank. Will 4 or 6 outlets of .75" locline be ok or with that slow the flow to much? The tank is a 180g by the way. thanks in advance. Any help or info will be greatly appreciated!

i've got dual overflows, in each corner. Two holes/overflow, i'm going to use both as drains. 1each for the sump, 1each for the hammerhead. I figured 2 1" feeds T off to a 1.5" to the hammerhead would be ok.? All the returns are just going to go over the top of the tank. Understand what i'm talkin about?

yes i understand what you are saying but i believe you have some wrong information.
first, i have a Dart, which is smaller than the Hammerhead, and it has a 2" intake.
for mine, i had to have my 2 1.5" bulkheads feed into 2" piping and Tee off into 2" Tee.
see post 94, page 2 on the above link. then i believe the construction continues again page 9.
if you dont have enough down force in the drain, then you will put strain on the pump and shorten it's life and efficency. i dont believe two 1" bulkheads will provide anough flow to supply a hammerhead, although i may be wrong.

from the site i'm looking at getting it from, it say's it has 1.5"input/1.5"output? so you don't think 2 1"ers would do the job? What pump would you recommend if not? I really don't want to have to upgrade latter with additional powerheads. The wife thinks they're ugly and take up too much room! Gotta love her.
if this won't work, i'm going to have to rethink this thing thru. AGAIN. I don't want to have to have the input of the CL going over the top of the tank, that's big and ugly. A smaller pump, and i'll probably have to add powerheads. What are your thoughts? Anybody

oh, by the way, were you able to get more flow thru your CL from closing some of the exits? Just wondering, i love your setup. Great inspiration.

That's not a true CL running of your overflow boxes in the tank.....What are the hole sizes.....The Hammerhead is 2" inlet and out.

they are 1" holes. I was going to drill a hole into the overflow box and put a strainer onto the pvc midway down the tank.

i have a 180 and i plummed it with a Sequence Reeflo Dart... a great pump for a closed loop.... the Hammerhead is a great pump too but more suitable for a larger tank and it would need about 4-6 / 1" outlets to not slow down the flow.... locline wont do it any good.... if u wanna plumb a closed loop the proper way its best to drill a drain hole in the back panel about 1/2 the way down and centered so it sucks water evenly... heres some pics of my setup my tank is glass so i had all holes drilled before i put it together by the manufacturer....
i have 2 drain holes centered on the back panel of glass each one on each side of the overflow box i made them so i could hide them behind the rock work....
the back plumming shows the 2-1" drains Ting together into a 2" T and then down to the Dart pump in 2" PVC to keep maximum flow... then the Dart shoots the water straigh back up in a 1 1/2" PVC pipe to my Oceans Motion 4-way which has 4-1" outlets these were plummed back into the tank through holes i had cut in it as well 2 on each side....

the OM-4way opens and closes 2 holes at a time to create a random flow more like a natural reef environment and my SPS corals love it and have thrived. u can see the metal drum centered ontop the tank

BTW u need the drain holes to be seperate from the overflow box the sump and CL need to be totally different from each other u need to have the closed loop pull directly from the display tank and recirculate that way... the sump is its own thing you cant pull water from the overflow box it would suck air the overflow doesnt feed enough water for the sump and CL
