hang on overflow question

I just put my refugium in the other day and man the overflow is LOUD!!! It sounds like it is burping. Is there any solution to the noise or are they all loud??

Do you have the filter that fits over the piping on the inside? I also took a piece of cardboard and cut it to fit the overflow box on the draining side., it acts like a lid for it. After that no more gurgling.

I remember that being discussed in the past. I think some people would adjust the tube going out of the overflow. I don't remember much about it, but you could search for it.

I've been using a couple of LifeReef overflows for several years now. The only time noise was ever an issue was if the flow rate was too low....increase the flow rate and no noise to mention. I don't know that your problem is related to flow rate thru the hang-on but it may be a possibility.
