Hanging light fixture

I was looking into getting say a MH hanging light fixture for above my 29 gallon (30 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 18 3/4) and would like to know what width fixture would be recommended for this size tank if the width even matters.

A single 175w Halide pendant will do the job nicely. I use a 150 over my 24g and it works great.

Alright. Would you say that a 9" 150w HQI pendant light would work because i have the opportunity to get one used pretty decently priced.
I dont plan on keeping any SPS so it would be mainly LPS and softies.
