Hard circular green algae

 For the past couple of months I have had a real problem with green algae which is circular in shape and is very difficult to clean, is actually hard to the touch. It is all over my live rock and is threatening to take them over, and it takes signifigant scrubbing to get it off the glass too (don't worry I don't srcub the rocks). I have a 50 gallon tank with a few fish, approx 60 pounds of live rock, snails and hermit crabs. I also have a few pieces of coral as well. My levels seem to be fine, and I do a water change on it faithfully everty 2 weeks. I don't know where it came from, or how I should deal wth it. i have tried various marie tank scrubbers, which don't seem to do anything. Any ideas as to what it is and how to handle it.
Thanks....Relli

sounds like coraline algae which is good, it comes in a couple of colors depending on lighting and water params, but there is purple, pink, orange, green and some other variations.

I agree sounds like a green form of coralline algae, to get it off your glass, use a new razor blade and carefully scrape it off the glass.

It sounds like I have the same problem. It is this green algae all over my glass. It is hard to touch and very hard to scrub. I use a hand brush and it takes a while to scrub off. When a snail goes over the algae it doesnt get any of it. It might be coraline because it is the same shade of green on my LR.

For extremely hard algaes have you tried one of those plastic windoe scrappers for cars? Also I think a single edge razor blade should take the stuff right off. Just be careful not to get too close to the silicone sealant on the corners.
