Harlequin evolution

I've always loved Harlequin shrimp, but I've never understood why their claws are shaped like paddles. They don't use them to bring food to their mouths like other shrimp do. The only thing I've ever seen them do w/ them is wave them defensively when something threatens them.
I put a new feeder star in for mine yesterday. She can smell the starfish while they're still acclimating and comes out from her dungeon to get them. This particular star started climbing the tank wall. The Harlequin used her claws like a spatula to peel the star off the glass.
I wish I'd videod it. It was an amazing thing to watch.
