So today I got a Harlequin Shrimp and I gat a sand sifting starfish for it to eat. Now the shrimp is about an inch big and the star fish is about 4 inches from leg to leg (across the body) and the shrimp was on that starfish like the last chopper outta Nam, now my question is when will be the next time I need to feed it, because it's been going at the starfish ever since I put them in my tank? And will a dead starfish in my tank like it is mess with the levels (PH, Alk, etc) because it doesn't seem like the shrimp has gotten very far, but then again the starfish has stopped moving.

As soon as that starfish dies, you'll need to supply another one. I know of some '

' Harlequin owners who farm their Chocolate Chip Starfish simply as food. When the CC is about to die, they save its life and replace with a 'fresh' starfish to feed on. When the other starfish is better again, it's thrown back in as food. Such a cruel cycle to keep a Harlequin....but damn the shrimp is cool.
