Harlequin Shrimp web?

I got my first Harlequin shrimp for my reef tank a couple days ago. I introduced a knobby starfish for it to eat today and the harlequin seems to be having problems with it. For the last hour it is climbing all over it and there seems to be a "web like" substance it is putting all over the starfish, but I cannot see any damage done or spots eaten. Is this normal?

ok so it now looks like the starfish is dying,,,,,and im assuming from this web the harlequin is putting on it. Weird though - I thought they ate the starfish alive and there is currently no damage I can see on the star but it definitely isnt moving much anymore and is about to fall off the glass

So im thinking that my harlequin cannot handle the knobby star perhaps. She doesnt appear to be doing any damage to it even though she has been all over it for over 2 hours now. I think I will try cutting a leg off to see if she can handle something smaller. Anyone ever have problems with their harlequin not being able to handle a full starfish? This knobby is about 3" and the only thing the harlequin appears to have done in over 2 hours of riding all over it is the web-like substance I talked about. Reminds me of a dog drooling over a steak

You can look here at a past thread about feeding. https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/358517/harlequin-shrimp-questions
You can also type in the search section harlequin shrimp. It'll pull up threads related to Harlequin shrimp. The name will be highlited in red on the first page of posts.

Thanks for the info. I did already search for harlequin shrimp but I couldnt find the info I was looking for above. Im really curious what this "web-like" substance is. Does it work like saliva in humans? Does it render the star immobile?
