I have a 150 g and was wanting it drilled rather than using an oveflow. Does anyone have any experience drilling glass. Is it difficult for an regular do it yourselfer to do this without risking shattering the glass?? Are the bits expensive? etc. etc.

I haven't done this since all my tanks are tempered glass which is the number one thing to check for if it's tempered you can't drill it. Several people have done it and said it was pretty simple but you need to make sure you keep the bit level, well lubricated and cool and go slow. You can get some pretty resonable bits on the web not sure what they run for price seems like you could get a set for less than $50 but I'm not positive

Or just look around for a local glass working shop. I bet they could drill simple enough holes to fit your purposes for less than you'd spend on bits. Just make sure it's not tempered, it'll shatter. If you find that your tank is tempered, check the sides. Sometimes just the bottom will be tempered and not the sides.

A 150 is a big, expensive tank to drill your first hole on.
Drilling isn't difficult. You can get the diamond holesaws on that famous site where you bid on stuff. I paid about $25 for a 1.75" bit (for a 1" bulkhead) and have drilled many holes with it. The slower you go and the more water cooling you use, the longer your bit will last.
Usually if you get it from famous site where you bid on stuff seller who sells them specifically for aquarium hobbyists, they will include an instruction sheet that shows you how to do it.
Back to my original point though.. it'll be a real expensive shame if your first hole doesn't go so well on a 150. You can buy a hunk of glass to practice on.
Usually, tanks that big have tempered bottoms, and cannot be drilled. The sides are usually regular glass, but you need to confirm that with the manufacturer.
