I had two of them die on me. The first one got stung by the anemonie and the second one died due to a combonation of water quality and space. My phophates were very high in a thirty gallon tank which was just a holding tank. My 220 was cycling and he died 2 days befor it finished :( Any way, I feed him shrirp and scolops with a wooden stick every other day.At first he did'nt eat alot, It took about 2 weeks for him to start eating good. He lasted 5 weeks. Good luck.

Don't get any triggers. Don't try any inverts either as they will probably get eaten. You can try to feed it right away but it can take up to 2 weeks for it to start. I feed mine shrimp, octopus, and krill mostly. You can get the shrimp and octo at the grocery store. They get about 3ft. They grow pretty fast. I've had my brownbanded bamboo(aka banded shark) for about 7 monthes and its grown from 6 inches to 10 inches.

I had my banded for about three months. He was eating fine.. Then he up and died... He had a fight with my snowflake, I think that may be why he died......

Thanks for the info. folks, I did a Phosphate test and all appears ok the test was 0.1ppm so Iam fine.. I guess I should work on "NOT" using tap water. I have a terrible brown slimey alage attacking my tank. About the Banded shark, I should start feeding him right away, Huh ?? Should I try at night time when the lights are out. The other fish are hard to get around, with them eating the fish meant for the shark..lol

Hello, folks... I wanted to know if some one can give advice on feeding my "Chiloscyllium Ponctatum" Banded Bamboo Shark. I know the first few weeks are crucial. Any advice is welomed on getting him to eat his first meal.

Great News !! Just this morning my Bamboo Shark has eaten for the first time (5) days approx. it took the shark to respond to the hand feed method. It was frozen squid from the local supermarket, with a slit in a straw and a little wiggling without trying to panic the Bamboo. I want to thank all that have given me the wonderful advice and replying on my posted questions.

someone recently posted about how to treat ailing bamboo shark...apparently it had been herassed by tank clown for 2 weeks that probably stressed it out...I would not know first hand, but probably ANY type of damsel miight end up stressing it out to death...especially those pair of clowns if/when it gets close to their turf...

Its a mating pair of Gold Stripe Clowns.. So far so good.. The Damsel, Iam hoping the shark gets a chance to eat him.. I cant catch the little F*** I was hoping that my panther grouper or Shark take it to him...

well than, I ghuess it will be a wait & see thing...BUT you might want to have a plan worked out for worsed case scenario of the shark being herrassed bye the damsels/clowns just in case...

I used to have three damsels in my 180. That would ocationally harrass the bamboos. They're all ded now.

JIM27.... I dont care for the only "Domino-Damsel" thats left, if I could catch the fella I would give him away. As you know its hard to catch 'em. lol I watch the tank carefully. It seems to really be a challenge to raise the Shark. Iam hoping the fish in the tank get along with the shark. So far the clowns seem very content, and so does the panther grouper. Which I would think these fish can have the biggest threat on the Shark.. As you said, "I'll wait and see it all out"
