Have to remove all my rock... corals?

I have a fish with ick, and understand all the fish have to come out for QT and hypo and tank left fallow for 6 weeks minimum. The problem is, I have all my corals epoxied to my rocks, and 2 anemones that are stuck on a couple different rocks each and it pulls on them to move those rocks. What do I need to know to keep all alive?

Scotty...If you move all the fish to a QT tank and treat them there you do not do anything else with your DT tank (rock or inverts). Just leave them in the DT with their normal lighting, heaters, pumps and wait 6 weeks. With no fish in the DT for 6 weeks the Ich will have no host and will die.

Yea I read about the 6 weeks fallow. My concern is, the corals will be out of water with the rock for up to an hour while it comes out and gets rebuilt... i have no idea what to do with the anemones. is thre something i need to do or is that an ok amount of time?

No you don't have to take the rocks, corals or anemone out.If you QT your fish and do hypo. Then wait the normal 6 weeks.the ick will die in the display. As their are no fish for it to host.So it will die by starvation

actually i have the exact smae problem as this guy. i was wondering also. but I think ya'll are missing his point here. i know with MY tank I HAVE to remove the rocks/corals in order to catch the damn fish to put them in QT. so is that an ok amount of time for the corals to be out of water and the rock or will i end up with dieoff after an hour of being out of water?

I don't have a reef but I'm sure there would be die-off. Please tell me where you read 6 weeks for ich to die with no host.

Syphon some of the water from your DT into a bucket or tub and put the rock in there while you catch your fish. It is six weeks for the display without fish for the ich to die off.

i also dont understand why 6 weeks. because the whole point if to let it run it's life cycle without a host, then die without laying eggs from lack of said host. the whole life cycle takes like 7-11-ish days. so why would you need to wait more than, say, 3 weeks to be safe? thats about TWO life cycles. the second of which shouldn't even happen. I'm confused. I understand longer is better just to be safe, but I still am completely confused as to who (seemingly) picked the number 6 out the air. I know the eggs can lay dormant in the sand for a LITTLE longer than usual sometimes, but theres reports of eggs hatchign 3 MONTHS afterwards in same rare cases, so if you jsut want to be careful, shouldn't we all have to wait 3 months before adding the fish again? or to put it in perspective, a quarter of a YEAR????

It was originaly thought to be three weeks. We (all of us in Disease and Treatment) had many people report re-exposure after three weeks. People have tried leaving their systems fishless longer. Through everyones experience six weeks has been the safe point. Many things learned are through trial and error. My personal belief is the longer the better to be sure, but six weeks is safe. I also personally qt fish for a month or more, but that is how I prefer to do things. Patients is very important in this hobby.

YES YES YES this is what Im asking... I dont think I made it very clear. The rock with corals will be on a tarp on my floor. How long do I got, should i get a spray bottle to keep them wet...etc etc

What Sepulatian was saying was why not go down to Home Depot or Lowes or WalMart and buy a few buckets to empty some display tank water in and then place your corals and inverts in them while you catch your fish, get them acclimated into the QT and re-setup your DT. This way you will not have any time pressures as your corals and inverts will be sitting in water not on the tarp on the floor. If you choose to go the tarp route, it is very difficult to give you any timeframes as each coral will handle being out of water differently. Some corals come from areas where they are exposed to the air each day at low tide so they will handle being out of water better than a coral that comes from thirty feet down.
The other thing he said which is even more important is "Patience is very important in this hobby."
