I'm going to glue some acrylic baffles into my acrylic sump. I tried to find Weld On #4 but couldn't find it locally so I picked up a product that my local glass and plastic shop calls Accubond.
I have tried to do some research on Accubond on the web but I'm not having much luck. I have found that Accubond is the name of the Corporation that makes this stuff and is based in Pa. but that is about it. Couldn't find any product information.
It didn't come in a bottle with an ingredient label. I guess they just poured some out into a small plastic applicator bottle and gave me it. They said that it was made for bonding acrylic together. Told me to keep it in the refridgerator or it would evaporate.
Has anyone run across or had any experience with this product? i'm just trying to figure out if it is safe to use and won't hurt any of my livestock. Thanks for any help.

Here is what I can tell you... I'm looking at the can of Weld-On sitting here in my garage, and according the label, it's nothing but Methyl Choride. There is no adhesive in it at all, it's just a solvent that melts the edges to be bonded so they ... well... weld.
If you stuff comes in a tube, it may be similar to Weld On #16. That stuff is primarily Methyl Choride, and Acrylic Resin... so it's basically plain old weld-on with some acrylic mixed in already to help fill gaps in the joint.
Check the label of your stuff and see if it's close to those.
BTW, if you want the real mccoy, I get my Weld-On supplies from Tap Plastics and the applicators from US Plastics. Google around and you'll find their web sites. Tap is the cheapest place I've found weld-on.

You can find it actually at a lot of places... Instead of looking for the name look for a bottle/jar that contains methylene chloride. I found some stuff at a small hardware store near me and got this stuff called craftics plastick acrylic solvent cement. The kids working at the store had no idea when I went in asking for methylene chlordide but I just looked around and found it. It is a very this solution that like scs said it melts to bond them together. I got this stuff and my sump/fuge has been running fine for well over 8 months now... (knock on wood)
Hope this helps!
