THere is this stuff called RealOcean. For 10 dollars it proclaims to give you seawater with salt already mixed to the correct salinity. It comes in a box with a heavy duty bag. 5 gallons ive never seen this stuff before. IM not sure if i read correct but said you can set up a aquarium in half the time and it does not have nitrate, phosphate all that stuff. And does not mess up your ph. I was gonna buy some but wanted to see if anybody knows about it. Also says its great for water changes, top offs. Of course you can add salt if you like or add water to your specific salinity needs. Let me know cause you figure around my house i think its .70 cents a gallon for RO and 1.50 for mixed RO. If this stuff is good id like to give it a try.

I wouldn't use it for top off though it will just increase your salinity. But I think its just pretty much water strat from the ocean. I don't know if its from a source close to land where waters can be polluted.

DO you guys mix salt when you do top offs or just regualr fresh Ro. I wasnt sure if the salt desovled with the water. My salinity stays around 1.024-1.027 ive been just adding fresh Ro for a couple weeks now on my month old tank. I just have love rock and live sand and fish in there now. BUt i know when i add corals ill have to be more strict with the salinty.

But blk88 its says its sea water that is filterized, sanitized and cleaned so how can it be polluted. Its says its the fishes choice i could see why if it really is seawater that is there natural habbitat water isnt it:D. I would just use it to get my 20L softies tank started that what i was looking to do with it. And if its good maybe for water changes.

I just think if you filtered sea water you would remove alot of the elements of true sea water. If it's filtered and treated then your just buying a man made water just like having a ro/di and mixing salt yourself. But it would probly aide in your start up. I'm not an expert just giving my opinion and hope I didn't offend anyone......:)

Nah you deff didnt affend me. Your prob right which is why i went with the decesion to buy a box of salt for $15. THen RO for my 20 will cost me about $10. SO i spent $25 instead of $40. THats what i thought it was to just cleaned salt water same as mixed and i will have a extra 5 gallons worth of salt left over. Thats why i didnt get it. PLus it was from ***** and i never go there just stoped in to see if they had a tank sale. IT was stinky in there. I went to this place called zoos and got a a 20L for 19.99:D ***** wanted $36 yea right. The tank is prob infected with glass mites:D . I didnt even bother to look at the fish i was to scared. I was just curious of this stuff Real OCean.

They probably collect it from areas far from land with low pollution levels. I don't think I would be afraid to add it to my aquarium.
You will still need to get RO water for topoffs to replace evaporation losses.
I think the major problem is the cost. $2/gallon is a lot and could discourage you from doing water changes. Doing a 10% water change weekly for your tank would use 100 gallons/year ($200). Getting your own RO system (large investment initially then you have quality water when you need it for practically nothing) and buying salt in the 5 gallon buckets (my cost is around 27 cents/gallon) would make getting an RO unit a good investment very quickly compared to this product.
This product could be used for very small tanks. It could also be used in an emergency if someone needed water but didn't have any premixed.
