never really had a problem. i hv probably placed over well over 10 orders in the last year. the only problem i ever had was yellow leather, since they were delicate shipper.

I'm crossing my fingers for Wednesday, my wife's B-Day present will be here and I'm really fricken tired of dead rare coral. It's rare because it keeps showing up dead!

I have only had 1 casualty out of like 10 and it wasn't the shippers fault. The container leaked out all the water even though it was wrapped like 30 times with tape and lots of care was taken. I would say though ALWAYS get ups or fed ex. usps sucks BIG TIME!

I don't remember how SWF.com shipped my stuff(those corals survived anyway) but the rest has been through Fed Ex.

I don't think it really has to do with the carrier but the condition of the coral (water parameters and care recieved) before shipping and the way it is packaged. I have shipped many through all the carriers and USPS the most and had very few losses, none lately since using a newer preparation technic.
But I only ship a few every so often and only as a hobby, not on a large commercial scale like some over-the-net dealers so I can afford to take the time to prep the coral for shipment.

If the container leaked it was the shippers fault. It IS
possible to take precautions against a leak. It only takes proper bagging, but many times thin bags are used and/or not sealed properly and/or not insulated properly. If a coral has sharp edges it needs triple bagging and maybe even more and a few peanuts or hand full of shredded newspaper will not always protect against the carrier's handling. A coral needs to be bagged in preparation for the worst, not shipped hopeing for the best.
