Moreys actually may hold the record for being the oldest saltwater fish kept in captivity, as they were actually kept over 2,000 years ago in specially built pools in ancient Rome.
In a tank that large, you could probably end up with a nice display by picking a tankmate (if you want any at all) by picking a mid to topwater fish such as a volitans as a tankmate.
Many people don't think to consider what part of the tank is most used by what fish in selecting their specimens and by "layering" your fish you can get maximum use with a minimum of conflict, even among somewhat aggressive species.

An 80g would be plenty of room for a Hawaiin dragon. Like all eels, they like a lot of rockwork to weave in and out of. 400 sounds like a good price, I've seen some of the more beautiful specimens sell for 1500  . I wouldn't suggest a lion, they can easily be swallowed head first by an aggressive eel without the spines affecting them. IMO, dragons should only be kept in a species tank. Bo

usually when a store sells a hawaiian dragon under about 700 that means something is wrong. Hawaiians are really known for not eating. I work at a lfs and we got one in from a guy that had it for about 5 yrs. That thing would eat like crazy. We sold it to a guy and it stopped eating. It didnt eat for about 3 months and on new years eve he started eating again. So maybe the lfs cant get it to eat and thats why they are selling it so cheap. The wholesale price on those is really high. So if you plan on buying it ask for alot of info about it . Ask to see it eat.

The lion in question came out of my lfs home tank. he has had it in the store for about 5 months now and no one has bought it. I have seen him eat a couple of times... including part of a lion fish a couple of triggers had killed. The wife wants to set up the 80 as a reef tank but i might try and talk her into the dragon instead..

I paid $279 for mine.( I had a employee friend order it for me) It is aggressive to certain fish. Ones that are a lot bigger than it, it wont strike at. I've had little wrasse's and damsels come up missing, I assume he took them. I feed him shrimp that I would eat from a clear feeding stick.

That's not a bad price. I bought mine as a baby for about 275. Definitely watch the tankmates. My dragon ate a small lion.
