hey everyone, im very interested in the hawaiian spotted puffer and would greatly like to get one for my tank, but I know that most puffers are aggressive and should only be kept with other aggressive tank mates.. so this is my dilemma.
currently ive got;
2 false percs
1 golden striped maroon
1 yellow tang
1 florida condi
1 BTA
some brown mushroom polyps
lots of hermits and snails
2 sally lightfoots
9 emeralds
2 peppermint shrimp
1 coral banded
how would the puffer do in a tank like this? btw its a 72 gallon future reef tank. would it be safe towards other inhabitants and a wise decision?

depends on how your fish is. your puffer may try to eat your shrimp but then it might not. your fish should be alright.
thier a thoery that say puffer like that, leave things in the tank alone that were in thier when it was introduced but when you add things say a crab it thinks your feeding it. but that just a thoery

i agree, try getting a really small one.. i saw one in the lfs yesterday, must have been the size og a quarter, it was great.... anyway, this is my seconf hawian blue puffer, and they are complete wimps.... my yellow goby attacks him and the puffer does nothing... he is very docile.... my clean up crew is still there.... the hermits are good at not getting eatin... he prob will eat any snail.... as far as shrimps, i'll be finding out soon enough......
