Heater nightmares!

O.K I'm going crazy! I have a 200 watt hydor heater and it's set on 78 degrees however it keeps turning on and my tank is at 82 degrees! I sent it back for a new one and this one is doing the same thing. In fact My ebo jagger was the first heater and it did the same! AM I cursed! Should i just set it at a lower temp and see if that helps? It's only a 29 gal. What can be the issue? It's not the lighting as the heater jumps on afetr the lights are off at night.

lower the heater temp. my house is hot and my heater does the same thing.

Maybe ur thermometer is off. I have the hydor theo heater for both my tanks and they work very well.

ya mine does the same its set at 72 and it stays a good 80!
