heater problems

When my heater is in my DT it does just fine ...keeping the temp at 78. If I place it in me refugium the DT temp goes to 80. I turn the heater down but it stays on all the time...does anyone know what my problem is??? I could keep my heater in the dt but it just looks cleaner down in the sump.

The sump has a constant flow of water going in and out so maybe the heater doesn't register to shut off?
A temp at 80 isn't bad at all to be honest, if it stays there and doesn't climb, I wouldn't worry and keep it in there.

Ok thank you flower...good point. I stayed up with it until about 2:00 this morning finally got it about 78.
