Heater Question

I am slowly setting up a 30g tank. I bought a 150w heater but am now concerned with it maybe being a little too much heat for a tank my size. Should I downgrade to a 100w or will I be ok?
(main concern is water heating up to quickly)

Most heaters have a gauge on them. 150 watts is not too much.
