What size watt for a heater will I need for a 125g

a 300 watt should do the trick.
also some advice from me: don't buy a cheap heater from wal-mart. order through a magazine and find a good heater. i like my tronic one. many people buy cheap heaters that end up "sticking" and heating the tank to 90 degrees.

Personally I would buy 2 150 watt heaters and put one in each corner so if one sticks it will take a lot longer for that 1 to boil the tank then it would if the 300 watt heater stuck on. JMO though.

i agree with that. you do have twice the chance of one sticking though.

I have 2 heaters, one in tank and one in sump, works well.

I have a Visi-Therm Stealth Heater 250 watt (just one) and my tank is always at 78 everytime I check it. I have a 125 with good flow. Its not glass so its not going o break and fry my fish. I only paid $20.99.Works great....JMO
