:help: Does anyone here use a heater with the 29 Biocube. If so where did you put it? the chamber on the far right isn't big enough because of the grate in it. The middle chamber has my live rock in it, and the water isn't very deep unless I take this grate out, but then will it be ok to have LR up against it? and the chamber on the far left doesn't have enough water in it. Please help.

My heater fits with no problem in the chamber on the right. What type of heater are you trying to use?

My 100 W Visi-therm heater fits perfectly. I'm not sure what problem you guys are having? This is all the heater you need. If you guys want to, make a few mods like I did. It has been a great imnprovement to my setup. Take the stock filter out. Replace the bioballs with lr rubble. Cut the plastic divider between chambers 1 and 2 so that it is level. This will allow the entire back to fill with water, allowing you to place heater, carbon bags, purigen bags, chemipure bags, phosphate remover, etc in the back. It also allows you to make a mini fuge out of the middle chamber. Hope this helps!

duh!!! i was trying to fully submurge the heater, i forgot i could leave the tip out. how hard is it to modify the back after it is set up. i have also heard to cover the bottom filter inlet, is that true?

The heater I want to use is 9" long, how long is the Visi-therm one?

I did the modification after I was setup for about 6 months. It only takes a minute. All you have to do is cut the plastic off. I used a Dremel, probably not the smartest or safest option but take some water out of the tank, and be careful not to let water contact it. I have not covered the bottom intake. I placed the lr rubble in the middle chamber and I am not using the drip tray since the water level rose so much. I got the rubble off a website I cannot mention here. Email me at ashleymoser@gmail.com. I took out the stock filter because it is terrible for water flow, really restrictive. I bought a foam filter insert and cut it to fit exactly in the first chamber. I had to drop in a maxi-jet 400 due to some lacki9ng flow areas, but I am extremely happy with the mods! I will try to post some pics tonight or tomorrow.
