i have a heater but it is too warm now to need one, i would turn it on if the temp fell below 70 degrees in the tank.

I will probably have to get a small one for my 2 gal pico tank. We heat with wood, and we usually keep the bedrooms cool during winter, so I have been thinking of one of those pad type heaters by Hydor...........which is about 7 1/2 or so watts and supposed to heat water to a max of 5 degrees above room temp....no adjustable thermostat control.......just the built in differential control, so combined with the PC lights heat and the heat pad I think it will put me in the ball park temp wise. I think it will fit perfectly inside my AC20 hob filter/fuge

my heater is a 25 watt, it's rated for up to 8 gal. if you go to the lfs and look at the heaters, they should say on the packaging what size tank they're good for.

no i have been reading alot about corals and i am sure that they do best between 70 and 74 degrees. a hundred watt heater would be good for a 12g that is what i have. and i just checked MARINE REEF AQUARIUM HANDBOOK BY Dr Robert J. Goldstien and he says that coral should be kept between 70-74 degrees.
