Heaters?

Well, it got really cold in the house this weekend. My tank temp dropped 2 deg. I can see the winter is going to force me to heat my tank.
1. My 2 96watt power compacts are up and running as of a couple of minutes ago. Do you think they will provide enough heat?
My 60 watt florescents seemed to maintain 76 deg. this summer when the house temp was 72 deg.
2. I am worried about using a heater. I have read that they can be dangerous. ie. breaking and causing shocks..
any info ?
thanks ...rick

Best bet is to get two smaller wattage ones, that way if one fails it doesnt have the power to boil your fish before you can catch the malfunction.STEVE

Good idea Steve...My lfs does not have any heaters in his tanks at the store. Says room temp keeps the water where it needs to be. Thats what I've been doing...75-77deg all year, this is the first time I have seen it dip. Also the first time room temp got below 65 degrees too. I'm just getting ready for the Alabama winter power outages.
