I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THIS BOARD WAS HERE, NOW I CAN STOP BUGGING THE PROFESSIONALS WITH IGNORANCE. I HAVE A SUBMERGIBLE HEATER THEY SAID IT NEEDED TO BE SET AT 78F, THE HEATER WAS FOR A 30-60 GAL, MY TANK IS A 30 GAL CUBE SHAPE. MY QUESTION IS SOMETIMES WHEN I PUT HAND IN THE WATER OR TOUCH THE GLASS IT SEEMS LIKE THE TEMP IS MORE LIKE 60-65F. THE HEATER DOES GO ON AND OFF SO I KNOW IT WORKS, I JUST WONDER IF IT'S MAYBE THE SHAPE OF TANK, OR MAYBE THIS IS NORMAL??:help:

mssmith13,
First welcome to the boards.
Second..This is where the Proffesionals are. The people here know more about this hobby than just about any store.
You need to have a thermometer for your tank. Yes it is normal for a heater to go "on and off". But you need to keep the tank at a constant temp. I would suggest going to your LFS (local fish store) and buy a thermometer.
Feel free to ask as much as you need, you will not be "bugging" anyone.

P.S.
you may want to loose the CAPS. It is the equivilant of yelling, and considered rude.
