Yes...the water can get over-oxygenated.
Are they long, slow breath or fast breath?
Long, slow breathing is typical.

how long have you had the shark? If you just bought him today or yesterday he could still be acclimating to your system. You should make sure your tank is well-oxygenated all the time, its a must for sharks.

ok thnx yea the breaths are long and deep and yea i was just worried about over oxygenating the water.. and yea i gt him thursday he was drip acclimated for close to 4 hours before i put him in the tank.. hes eting already but how do you train baby sharks to swim to the top for food cuz mine doesnt seem to want to leave the bottom for anything?

seems like your shark is fine! Your shark wont come up to the surface for food, maybe when they smell food, because they go crazy when they smell the food they like. You usely got to feed them when they are laying on the bottom. Sharks are very lazy during the day, well thats becuase they are nocturnal. You will see them swim at night.

Just to be a little immature for a second... I will not speak about your shark until we can see a pic.

Sounds like your shark is fine. And don't worry, he'll become a much more aggressive feeder over time... trust me on that. Mine actually jumped out of the tank once during feeding.

Yeah, love to see some pictures. A feeding stick is usely sold at your LFS, just ask them if they have some in. The feeding stick has a sharp pointy end which the food goes on and thats pretty much it. What size tank do you have and is there any other fish with the shark?

There is a guy in classified looking for 2 yellow tangs for his 150 with one already in it. I just thought you could keep 3 or 5 in a 220

What Mitzel said would be nice, but Purples CAN be aggressive, and are not always recommended with sharks. I think a blue tang substituted for the purple would be nice.
