When have you seen a problem with a cardinal and shrimp? Cardinals are mid-column swimmers, not hunters. I have worked with all types of cardinals and have never had an issue with shrimp being bothered or eaten.

Now peppermints can be problematic in their own right. They can be helpful with aiptasia eradication, but will also sometimes pick at and eat feather dusters .

I said POSSIBLE, only because the book Marine Fishes list 2 of 6 species as a MAY eat shrimp, 1 of the 6 as a WILL eat shrimp and the other 3 as safe..........And because they are carnivores, it would not suprise me if they did and some cardinals can get 4 inches + and I think a Pep would be a nice snack for a fish that size.

Wow..who knew? There are so many variables to this hobby..it is really tough to blanket each fish with a description as they can all be different. This person might feed their tank flakes for all we know, and the fish are simply hungry. Just like they say hawkfish are shrimp killers, I'm sure it has happened, or they would'nt have gotten that reputation. But I have kept one with shrimp from sexy shrimp, anemone shrimp to larger cleaners and pepps without issue. I would'nt have thought cards as being that way, but true too I mostly work with juvenile fish.
