Hi everybody
I know there are several posts about ich but some just confuse me more than help. I have recently lost 2 fish and after treating my tank it looks like my blue tang is going to be ok. What I need to know is what I should do before adding any new fish....how long should I wait and how to set up a quarantine tank. I have a 30 gallon tank right now so how big of a quarantine tank do I need and what do I do with my live rock. The medicine I used suggested I remove my charcoal filter but leave the biowheel was this the right thing to do and when should the filter go back in. For the record I used Rally by Ruby Reef and Kick Ich by Ruby Reef. These were suggested by my LFS. Also all my levels are what they should be including Salinity.
salinity was what I think may have caused the problem.
Sorry for the long post but I really need the help because my kids are driving me nuts when these fish die. :help:

Read Beth's sticky on hypo.
I also tried to use different medicines thinking it would quicker and easier. IT'S NOT!
You only need a 10g QT tank. I set mine up using water from my main display. Filled about half way and then filled with pre-mixed saltwater. You can add PVC piping for the fish to hide in and get shelter from. I also have a piece of LR that of course is no longer live.
I would then remove all fish from the main tank and use hypo. This process will take 4-6 weeks at which time any ich that is the main tank will die off since they no longer have fish. You can leave any inverts in your display tank.
Good luck.
