The BTA that I have had in my 55 Gallon tank for about a week and a half has been doing great. I brought a Sebae Clownfish home from the LFS and after it was in the tank for 15 minutes, it started rubbing on the BTA...........I nearly hit my head on the ceiling jumping for joy.
The only problem is that the BTA shrunk itself down and closed up real tight as soon as the Sebae Clownfish rubbed him.
Is this normal???

Do you have any idea how upset your going to make other folks who have been waiting form weeks and months for their clown fish to go into their anemone.
If it gets to bad there are some things we might try doing to keep the clown off of it for a while, but we will wait until things get bad, if it comes to that.
Good show!

I sure hope so.
Here are a few before and after pics.
The BTA is now slightly open, but still shrunk down to about 1/3 normal size.
The BTA is not rejecting the clown is it?

see if you can get a picture of the clown in the anemone for scale. It really doesnt look bad to me. the bubble tips are still inflated which is a good sign. The shrinking if size is just due to the stress placed on the anemone which isnt used to a fish beating it up with its tail. Give it time.

By the way, the clownfish has not been rubbing the BTA since it closed up.
He is just swimming next to it waiting for it to open up all the way.
The clownfish was never rough with the BTA. He just barely rubbed it.

Oh I don't think it's rejecting it, if it did then it would be stinging the clown and eat it if it could. Typical female

Just kidding ladies.
