Try to vacumn as much of it as possible, but I do not think mrecury is used much anymore. Start mixing sw now for a change if need be.

Mine broke in there about a month ago or more and nothing bad has happened. It was impossible for me to see where the little metal pellets ended up. I was told by numerous people that it should not harm anything. I would not stress to much as long as it was made for aquarium use.

try useing a magnet like maybe a MAG FLOAT to get the pellets out. good luck.
if you get another hydrometer use the clear plastic tube it comes in to test water.i just used electrical tape to tape up the end cap and test water inside tube.it works good.
