OK - I have a 55 gallon tank with 80 lbs of LR., 4.5" LS - two power heads, a 300 Watt heater, a cheap filter runnign Chemi-pure carbon.
My water params are:
Temp 80-82 depending on winter/summer
Salinity .0225
Ph 8.1
Ammonia/Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
. I have 10-15 hermits/10-15 astrea snails, two serpent stars, three humbug damels and one ocellaris clown right now (my larger fish died when we lost power for three days during a storm).
I have a growing population of aptasia anemone's and it's really getting annoying - what should I do?
I've tried the racoon butterfly thing but it seems these guys are not too hardy. what else is there that'll work on this stuff?
Any advice will help!

Peppermint shrimp is almost a generic term for several small shrimp, not all of them eat aptasia.

i used the marinade injector from a turkey cooker(larger, water dosen't cool down as fast),boiled water in microwave, and flooded mine with hot water and haven't seen one since.

Hi there,
Go into the Reef Forum and search for my tread on the Basics of Aiptasia. Everything is mentioned there :)
All the best,
Tim.

ocellaris_keeper - Hit and miss with the pepermint shrimp but two of them worked great for me when I had a 55 with an outbreak of aptasia.
