Help are digitate hydroids really pest?

Well, the problem with hydroids is that they can sting. So how bad they are is relative, IMO, to what you have nearby that can be hurt by it. The link doesn't work - you may want to try posting a pic here as links to other sites may be an issue.
I had some digitate hydroids but then they just died off.

They are a pest...ive rubbed my forarm against them and got stung...like poisen ivy.....i just use an old toothbrush and sorta pull them off
