Help Choosing Live Sand!!!!

I want a DSB for my new tank.... But I dont want to buy all live sand.. I heard there was a Silica Free sand that I could use and then just put about 15 pds of live sand in with it and it would all turn to live sand over time.. Is this true? And where can I get it? Also how many total pds does it usually take in a 55 gal long to make a 4" DSB???

custom sea life makes smart light fixtures that can be mounted in just about any original light fixture.. i've put several into little mini bow 7's you just gut out the fixture install the new ballast and light and your good to go and they're not real expensive perhaps 50 dollars or so tops..

I'd guess around 80lbs to start and see how close it is. There used to be south-down sand avail at home depot. you can check them and maybe lowes see if they have any. A lil more costly but cheaper than LS is dry sand from the lfs's. I'm just starting a 54 corner tank and put in 40 lbs dry argonite and 40lbs Live argonite.
