yesterday I got home from work and I could not find my Tang. The day before i had spotted some ich on him. Yesterday I found him on my power head. When i removed him he swam away. Thank god he is still alive. tonight i got home from work and his eye is terrible. He has a cloudy bubble over his eye. The LFS suggests a hospital tank to treat the infection. First off what kind of infection is it. Secondly I cant afford to set up a hospital tank right now, my wife will snap!!!. Whan can I do, should I just say my goodbyes now, is he going to die, and if not will his eye get better on its own. Please help, as this is my fav fish. Thank you so much for your time.

You could say goodbye to all your fish if you don't treat the ick. If it is on your tang, then it is in your tank. If it is in your tank, then it will soon be on all of your fish.
Have you added new fish lately? Within the past month or so?
What type of tank do you have? If it is FO, then you can treat the ick in tank.
How big is your tank and how many fish do you have?

no fear you'll be ok but you must start treating today. If you happen to have minocylin around your house from times when you have had soar throats use that. If its a normal geltab, each tablet will treat 100 gallons of water. Treat only once aday. but make sure the first day is double the amount. Also, just to keep the immune system up use garlic, and try a product called melafix, works very good. If you don't have this drug you'll have to spend the money and buy macryn I think is the name. But hopefully you'll have either minocylin, or penocilin would even work.. Hope everything works out for the best for you.

hey terry, I just would like to know what is in that macryn-two, oh thats right, its an antibiotic in a low grade form. My parents are both pharmisists and giving the human quality is not only cheaper but actually better for the fish. Helps the recover alot quicker, I've used it a few times before for my heniocus that had pop eye and eye clout, cleared right up in 3 days. Also, the garlic is not a cure ur apsolutely right, but since you are giving a antibiotic it supresses your immune system, in this case the garlic is like "chicken soup" does the body just right and helps the fish to a faster speedy recovery. Also, using the antibotics you will not have to remove any inverts from your tank b/c it will not harm any. thanks
