I just got a green brittle star fish I was watching him and i noticed help wrap around my hermit crab.. do the green ones always mess with inverts In the mix of all this i noticed my pacific blue tang lying on the sand bed. I startled him and he moved to a rock and is sitting there. The tang is about 4 inches long, does anyone think that the green brittle star atacked it and thats why shes acting weird. I did not know that the green brittle stars would eat inverts. I am taking him to the lfs after work what kind of brittle star can i get thats reef safe and wont atack inverts. I had my eye on an all yellow brittle star.
are there any that wont atack fish or inverts. My amonia is at .25 maybe thats why the pacific is acting like its dying :help:

.25 is leathal to fish, you need to get that down fast.
My brittle stars don't attack anything that I know of but I don't know for sure.

What are your specific water parameters? How old is your tank?
What brand of test kit do you use (eg red sea has a notorious ".25" false reading)...get tests double checked at an LFS
FEED THIS BRITTLESTAR
Yes, the green is a known predator. And it probably has not been fed in a long time. It is, simply, hungry and doing what is instinctive. It is a known predator, IMO of little threat to a tang but certainly to smaller fish. I have never had issues (I have 3 very large greens) but it is a known possible problem.

I have a decent size GBS..He will scoot out into view when my hand goes in the tank waiting on food...They are said to be predators of fish when hungry, I can believe it...most times I stick some frozen food in the sand bed and he will wrap up and chow down, and slide back into the rocks..

if you have bioballs and they have not had any water trickle for 24 hours they are probably gone! do you have any LR?
That is prob your issue, you need to get that leak fixed and get everything running again.
You are probably going to go through another cycle if you dont have enough LR to support the system
