I got my Dwarf Lion when he was pretty young. He was eating fine at the LFS. He was timid in his new home for several days. I bought frozen silversides and already had a freezed dried krill. I tried several times to get him to eat those in the first several days I had him. No go. But once I threw in some live brine shrimp, which I do as a treat for my fish every few days, he went into "Stalking Mode" and come out to hunt. He likes to focus on one shrimp, stalk it, then eat it. At this point I began to understand that he wanted something that moved. He does this until he's had his fill. After what I think was about 10-14 days, he started recognizing me and began taking the krill. A few days after that, he started eating them right out of my hand. A week or 2 after that, he started eating chunks of silversides I would drop near him. Of everything, it the longest to get him to eat the silversides. But now he knows when its time to eat, and comes right up to the top to see me. Sometimes, he'll even come out and hang at the top and stare at me in the morning while I'm just booting up the PC. The light isnt even on yet, but he sees movement and wants to fill his belly
Instead of feeding him a crapload less frequently, I feed him small amounts every day. That way he learned the "schedule" of the tank faster.
