i got my first coral today!, it was sold to me as a "sun polyp", but i can't seem to find it anywhere on the site, or other sources. i bought a piece of liverock about 4x3 inches covered in them. theres about 40 small heads. they are in my 30 gallon with 130watts pc lights. in the tank theres a coral banded shrimp and 10 hermits. i plan on getting of pair of bangai cardinals and a lawnmower blenny. will y sun polyps be ok with those selections? how fast do they grow/spread? how tall/big does each polyp get? what do they eat? any info is really appreciated. ~ Randy

well if it is a sun coral, they usually only come out at night, and I do believe they are pretty slow growing. you also need to targe feed it atleast twice a week to keep it healthy.

no... its not a sun coral, its sun polyps. it looks like a bunch of really light green/ yellow flowers with tassles around the rim.

There are yellow polyps and sun coral. You can check the pictures on this site and see which one it looks like. Some people spot feed their polyps and some don't. I just recently started and prior, I just fed them with DT's once a week and they did fine.
Sun Coral are very high maintenance corals. They need to be spot fed at night several times a week. They don't use photosynthesis like other other corals due. They also can be kept under an overhang in the tank to mimic natural habitat. They can be fed mysis shrimp and other goodies. Good luck.

you dont have to spot feed them, but they do like mysis. or even flake. I use a turkey baster, and shoot the food at them, and watch them grab on and eat.
