Help!!! Fish Tank Crashign

So i came downstairs yesterday found almost everything dead * I lost all my coral cept my carpet anemone*
I quickly ran out got water and started performing a massive water change.
I removed all the dead material
Calculated salinity etc dumped new water in and the tank is a bit cloudy of course.
Cept now its been about 24 hours and the tank is milky white. the clownfish wont move tehy arn't dead but they lie on their sides on the bottom breathing hard. The anemone seems fine I lost my brittle star yet my snails and shrimp are fine.
Ideas? Whast causing the water to be milky? why are the fish acting this way? What can i do? HELP running out of salt / water/ money

do you have test kits? it might be a good idea to list your water parameters, age of tank...any new additions..any fish missing...
it's impossible for someone to read your post and give you any insight towards your problem.

Sounds like a possible bristle worm spawning. I had a HUUUUGE spawning even that turned my 72 bow a milky white . I would say a huge waterchange, increased skimming, and water motion are in order. I would say the best thing to do for the fish if they are in that condition is to quickly make some water and set up a QT tank out of a bucket/ tank with a heater and a pump. goodluck

Except I read that they milkiness came after the water change. Calcium precipitation? And particles? Hard to say but increased filtration and carbon and skimming are a good idea at this point.

Thanks guys,
I dropped in some carbon and upped my skimmer and things seem to be clearing up. abit. Fish are still a bit tired but a bit more active now.

Do you have any macro algae in your tank? If so what kind and what color is it right now?
Without knowing more about your tank I agree its a tough call.
Spawning seems logical, corals can, clams have, brittles have.. even some anemones have. All could result in what your describing.

There's a couple different issues here. First, the massive, (as yet) unexplained die-off, and the milky tank water is the secondary issue.
Can you tell us more - a lot more - about your tank? Size, substrate type, how long it been established, amount of live rock, lighting, inhabitants, any new additions, most recent parameter readings (prior to these issues), etc.
Also, tell us how you prepared your water change water. The more specifics you can share, the better.
