I tried many things, as many things can be factors in it's growth. Do you have excess nutrients in the water? If so, you aren't ever going to get rid of it. For me, what finally got rid of it was increasing the flow in my tank. I don't have it at all in my display tank any more, but it still grows in my low-flow refugium a little big. So, simply put, beyond the generic advice for getting rid of all nuicance algaes (getting rid of excess nutrients), up-ing you current is the best bet. They also sell a product that kills it. It comes in a little bottle with powder in it, don't remember the name of it now. I'm sure you can search online and find what it is called. Anyway, I used that with mixed results, and had no negative effects on my tank. But, BIG caution, as always, on using chemicals in the tank.
Oh, and if you just set up the tank, you may just have to wait it out. Going through a period of slime algae is pretty normal, and it will eventually go away on it's own (not that I'd blame you for trying to get rid of it ASAP)
