Could anyone PLEASE identify this thing? I have no idea what it is. I found it while doing some aquascaping tonight. Crawled out of a big shell. Any help would be awesome. I think it may have eaten some crabs of mine?

Looks like a bristle worm to me - try doing a search and see if the pictures you find match it. Great for your sand bed - I have tons of them but they aren't the color yours is.

Yep! looks like a bristle worm to me too. I have one that's about 8" long in my tank. I don't have corals so he's cool. I heard they are bad if you have corals.

I am almost positive that is NOT a bristle worm. I am going to get back to you on this but DONT PUT IT BACK IN THE TANK! Not yet anyway.

I just bumped up a thread for you in the reef tanks forum. Its got the name steve weast in the title, and something about his worm. Just read that thread . . . . .

Thanx justin. Interesting.... Mine wasn't that big, not quite a foot long.
I removed the mystery worm from the tank. I have more than enough evidence to believe he killed Little Spaz, 2 shrimp, and numerous crabs. He is more expensive than he is worth, IMO.

Hmmmm..... Mixed opinions. Bristle worm or not? I didn't think it looked like a bristle worm, myself. That's why I took it out. It ended up dying last night, so whatever. Better safe than sorry, especially after ordering over 80 dollars worth of stuff on here the other night, and buying 5 more big chunks of Live Rock. The stuff should be coming Tuesday or so. I'll have to skip class so I'm here when they drop it off. OH WELL! :D

strange looks simliar to a bristle worm but the bristle are to big IMO to be one. there are many many different worms that show up in the tanks and most are beneficial to the tank but after the get so big the can cause problems. Like the other thread that was bumped for ya.
BYW there may be more in the tank so keep an eye out for them .
