Can someone please help? Can anyone tell me if lime in your well water is harmful to your fish and if so is there something that will take the lime out....We have a lot of lime in our water.any information would be greatfully appreciated.:(

No, it should not bother your fish i have well water and my fish do perfectly fine in the water. i have almost every in my water.

A uv sterilizer only kills bacteria, algae, and life forms (good and bad). This is the least of your worries when using tap or well water. UV Sterilizers do nothing to get rid of copper, sulfur, silicates, and other undesirable heavy metals and minerals.
The RO unit is designed to push water through a membrane that will get rid of most harmful metals, minerals, and chemicals (unlike a UV Sterilizer) and will also keep out harmful bacteria.

Well, I guess you learn something new everyday.....wouldn't a Britta Water Filter (on the faucet) work just as well to remove lime.

Most faucet filters, while making the water clean enough for us to drink and not taste as bad, will not remove nearly enough contaminants to make it desireable for fish, much less ideal. It is, however, better than straight tap water.
