help! hungry blenny in QT!

I've had to put my lawnmower blenny in the QT which is new. I filled it with h20 from the disply tank when I started it but there is no algae growing in it yet and the blenny isn't interested in either the spirulina discs I feed my FW plecos with or the seaweed I clip in for my Tang to munch. I've been putting scrapings of algae from the display tank in the QT but this is working against keeping possible ich parasites out of the QT - which is why he's in there in the first place. What can I do to kick start algae growth in the QT, or is their another a food he might be interested in?

have you tried brine shrimp? that's what's ours ate.
flake food? they make same they claim are made from algea.
isn't it funny that when you want algea you can't get it to grow?
keep the lights on longer? (or should the lights be off in a qt? i don't know). add tap water (j/j)
good luck with the little guy.
