Overflow setup question?
Just got my new Aquaclear 175. Looks great. The only problem is I have no directions. I got most of it figured out. The only question is How do I setup the overflow? Does it need to be a certain height in the water? How about the clear u tube. does it just sit in the overflow box? Does it hook to something? The overflow has one drain. Above that drain their is a prefilter. That prefilter is seperated from the rest of the overflow box with a devider. Any pics would be great. Or if you can give me a good Idea what to do that would be great also.
Thanks

The U tube goes from the front chamber (in the tank) to the rear.
Now the tricky part.... Starting the siphon.
2 ways.
One, place a small airline tubing inside the tube until it gets to the middle of the U. Fill the front and rear chamber with water. Suck on the tubing to remove the air and it will replace with water. Sounds easy, but it takes a little finece...
Second way, harder but easier.. Fill both chambers. Submerge your U tube in water. Use plastic wrap to cover the ends of the tube. Pull it out (once full while holding the plastic water tight!) and place it in the chambers. Remove the wrap. Whamo! siphon!
Good Luck

I am asuming the clear u sits on the empty side of the overflow box(not the side with the prefilter) Now with this all in my hands. The u tube end sits flush with the bottom of the first box. Do I trim as needed? is their a way this tube is supposed to be fixed to this box ? Or does it simply sit in place?
Thanks for the info on starting the syphen...

It just sits in there. You should not have to trim it. It should already be the right size.

I see. Once I put it in the tank. You have to lower the skimmer part to take on water. Is their some directions someone can email me with. I am in the dark on this type of system. The way I'm looking at it is that their is a posability that I can syphen too much water in the sump and get an overflow problem. I might just be thinking too hard though. Is this posable.
Also my overflow is makeing a horable gargling sound. How do i get rid ot that?

The siphon is controlled by the skimmer box in the aquarium and the return pump. If the pump is too large, then the overflow cannot handle it.
