I just added some new coral to my tank and the guy said to add calcium supplements. So I started adding calcium supplements gradually and out of no where my tank is being taken over by this red-brown stringy algae that is only growing on the bottom of the tank (substrate). Now my large starburst colony polyps have closed up, I lost a turbo snail yesterday, and nothing seems to want to eat this stuff. What is it? How do I fix it? And what is going to eat it or how do I get rid of it, keep it under control.
I have a Red Sea Max 130D, with the biomedia filter removed.
