My tank is a little over a month old. I added sand first. Live purple rock 3 days later already have orange stuff growing on it. I added two percula clowns about 10 days in. Everything has been fine. I took water to lfs yesterday and they said I would be ok to put in dwarf lion. I bought test kit also all levels were normal This morning ph is the same around 8.0. Ammonia went from 0 to .25 nitrate went from 0 to .25-.50 no3 went from 0 to 5-10. I also added a star fish it has black tips. Lfs owner said I was ok. After reading I do not feel the 45 minute from the bag to tank like he told me was enough. I put fish in bucket and added a glass of water from the tank every 15 minutes then added fish exactly like they told me. I noticed he seemed to be breathing hard yesterday. But I don't know anything about lions. I am alarmed because I woke up today and he is breathing harder then last night. Not sure if this is all normal but this fish may be a fish but its still alive and I want it to have the best care just like my kids. It is important to note that the lion was shipped to the store yesterday and was still in the bucket with another lion when I bought him. I did ask the lfs owner to shoe me him eat and he ate a guppie and the other didnt that's why I picked him because I've read you guys always say to see the fish eat. I am not sure if this is all normal due to the shipping process then bucket then my tank transition. I just want to make sure this guy is ok. Also why the spike in my levels overnight. I do also know the fish came from segrest farms which I read is a good place. That is why I went to this fish store in the first place. If the lion should be taken back let me know immediately as I haven't slept worried about him. Or what to do. I do have a culligan reverse osmosis filtration water system built in my sink so a water change shouldn't be hard. Any input is appreciated guys as I am new and learning. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
