Help I Think My Regal Is In Trouble

so this morning i got up and was looking around without the light on for all my fish, they were all in the right place where they usually are, the coral banded seemed extra happy this morning, then it hit me.."where the heck is my blue regal???" she wasnt in her usual spot in the lava rock where she sleeps. eventually i had to turn on the light and i saw her up by the powerhead for the skimmer....she was laying flat on the cords even with the lights on she didnt move..so i grabbed the wire and shook it and boom!!!!!!! she came to life swimming like crazy she looked really pale at first ( the first 2 minutes or so) then got her color back.. FINALLY.. is this typical behavior?? i dont have experience with regals at all, she is my first and i have only her about 4 days....( no white ick, black, lesions, or anything out of the ordinary, just looked about dead before i shook the wire, then came to life and within minutes had full color back........im worried about her considering she is new to the tank and is only about 2 1/2 inches long.....she wont eat either.. that i have seen but she did take to some brine i offered the second day but wont eat anything else....am i over-reacting?? or is there something wrong? I "drip acclimated her" and left the lights off the rest of the night

I Believe That Tangs Are Famous For Playing Dead And The Color Issue I Was Told That Was Normal. It Is A Defense Mechanism At Night.

thats what i was thinking because my foxface gets real crazy looking when he is at night, its pretty crazy...but i never heard about a blue tang "playing dead" and further more why would he be laying up behind the powerhead for the skimmer??? he has already made his home in another place, why all of a sudden pick a spot like that?

Maybe someone pushed her out of that spot, or maybe she likes her new spot better. The color thing is totally normal, my clowns are the only ones who don't do some kind of color morph at night. It always takes a few minutes for the rest of the fish to get their full pigment back.

i think im just overly worried because i lost a precious fish (flame angel) earlier in my hobby when i was really unaware of what i was doing....and this is my girlfriends new favorite fish and she'd kill me if this one died.....of course all of my other inhabitants are just fine and im used to their habits, just not used to her's yet i guess.. thanks for the prompt advice anyone else feel free to post more id like to know as much as possible about these guys.. i read and read and read but i need more opinions please and thank you from the newbie to this site!!

I have a Purple Tang and I used to have a regal tang and each morning before I turned the lights on, they were pale. Alot of Tangs turn Pale

yeah it was more of the not in her usual spot and looked dead the way she was laying on the powerhead...........so yeah my big ole yellow was always pale in the morning.....but the combo of the two freaked me out
