Found him on a piece of dead coral today. hes kinda a lime green color and moves around easily on the coral. is it a critter looking for a new shell to move into?? I have blue leg crabs, cleaner clams, nerosis (sp) snails brittle star, dottyback, pink skunk clown,The tank has been set up for years,(getting ready to go reef) but I'm new to snails and crabs ect... Sorry about tthe pic quality but hes the light green spot in the center. I'll try to get a better pic and edit it in later.
Thanks
Margie

We'll need more than that pic/description for an ID.
Does the critter have legs? Does it move around like a snail? How big is it? Is it nocturnal?
For SOME odd reason, I'm thinking Stomatella, but it's just a gut feeling.
Try to match your critter to one of the photos in this pictorial ID guide:

Thanks for the link, actually answered another question I had.
He was kind enough to come to the front of the tank so I could get a better look this time, and he is more snail like, I also saw him moving into an empty shell.( thats him in the back kinda cone shaped) seemed flatter when I saw him previously

forgot...
about 1/4 inch x 1/4 inch
Hes now cruising around in his new shell, guess I have'nt seen a snail out of thier shell before.

Snails don't go out of their shells. They're attached and removing them would kill them. It sounds like a hermit crab, but you would know that...

I would have thought maybe a limpet from the first picture, but if you're saying it goes into other shells.. I have no idea.

its possible it could be a hermit crab I have 3 blue legs that I can never find. ... he moved into a snail shell tho.. It could have been his shell that the brittle star took over a few weeks ago. .I'm still fairly new to crabs and snails I always had a fish only tank. Sure enjoying the extra drama the snails and crabs bring.
