Help Identifying algae.. please!

Within the last week this algae has taken over my tank. Some of it is red and some of it is light brown. It looks like it has bubbles in it and it forms some long floating strands because of it. I thought it was a light problem so I turned off my lights for a few days and it helped a little bit but now that they are on (8 hours a day) its all back again. I even did a 50% water change and levels seem fine.
Any advice appreciated.

Looks like cyano bacteria or diatomes or both. The bubbles are what is known as pearling. Is this a fiarly new tank?

I'd say diatoms and red cyano.
