Ok. I now think im addicted. my 45gal tank cycled 1 week and 4 days ago. I recieved my first fish two days after the cycle which was a coral beauty. and i then picked up a juvi blue tang 3 days ago. The two are really good together just to mention. I just cant wait to get another fish. Am i rushing it? i know i am. All ammonia nitrite and nitates are still 0 which i tested 5 minutes ago.
im looking into either 2 fire fish or a coris wrasse, or a fire angel for my next member. Any suggestions? What do u guys think. I ready to go out the door right now to get one if u guys say im ready

I hate to say it, but I think you've already opened yourself up to trouble. I did the EXACT same thing when my tank finished cycling, and I have been battling ich ever since. When the 75gal had cycled, I let a salesperson push me into buying a flame angel(I knew it was too soon, but I just "had to have it"). Then another lfs(I stopped shopping at the other)was helping me treat the flame for ich and popeye, told me that I should add any new fish while there was copper in the tank(boy I'm a sucker), so we got a powder blue tang. He/she got ich within hours of being in the tank, but fought it off. 30 days of copper, I start removing it with 25% water change and cuprisorb. In two days the tang had ich, AGAIN!! plus the flame started getting spots again too. So as near as I can tell, I have a bunch of teenage mutant ninja ich, that laugh at me when I put any kind of meds in the tank(tried rid-ick and copper. NOT together). So I started hyposalinity, been at 1.009 for almost a week, and they seem to be better. The flame cleared up in a couple days, tang's still trying to fight it off, and all the other fish seem fine so far. Only big difference is I have to keep up on the PH alot more. Back to your question, no more fish, for at least a month, you risk crashing the biological filter you just waited a month to establish. You need a well established tank for both of these fish. Not just cycled, but established. With lots of green algae for them to pick at. So adding more is a really bad idea, right now. Take it from someone who is still learning the HARD way.
HTH,
B

Thanks B. I was practically sitting here with my shoes on waiting for a reply. That seems like a lot of trouble your going through. Just curious, did u fresh water dip your fish while treating them? dont know if thats a good idea or not though.
So at least a month huh..... :(
guess i have no choice. aw well. let the count down begin

Yep its always best to wait but boy is it hard sometimes.
Here is what I do. Set a time period for yourself like 1 month and then do some research on the fish you like and even some other fish that you might not of thought about getting.
This way you can be sure your choice is right for you and this will also help pass time until the waiting period is over.
Be strong. you can do it.

Saltwater fish anonymous, every friday. its not helping my addiction. I agree with the above posts. Patience is always the key and will unlock the door to a healthy tank. Research and planning will make the experience what it is supposed to be..fun and interesting. Hurrying the process and jumping the gun will lead to an increased drug store bill for all the excedrin you will go through.

Patience.........sounds like a nice start(rapid but nice)
go slow....let things settle....then slowly progress.......you'll be glad ya did and so will the tank and its creatures........

I did a couple of dips on the powder blue tang, the first time it got sick. One was 2-1/2 min., and one was 8-1/2 min. They did help relieve the problem temporarily, but definately not a cure, and lots of stress chasing the fish. I don't understand why the copper didn't work  , but hyposalinity seems to be doing the trick. Just to warn you, you have two fish that are notorious for getting sick, so watch them carefully, and quarantine any other fish down the road so they don't bring anything into the tank. Also be sure to give them a varied diet with lots of greens. Ours love seaweed selects & all of the "formula" frozen foods, all soked in zoe.
Good luck,
B
