HELP! Is my Puffer Sick?

I just walked into the living room where my tank is and noticed that my Valantini Puffer looks a little weird. His coloring seems kinda darkish. Also, My damsel is sitting in the substrate in the corner of the tank which is unusual for him.
I just added two fish, the trigger and puffer a couple days ago and I'm getting worried because I know I'm pushing the limits of what my tank can keep up with. I've been taking Ammonia reading twice a day, my last one, taken 10 miuntes ago, was right around .20. But it's hard to be accurate. I have the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit with the drops and it's tough to be very specific because the color bars go up in such large increments. But I can tell it's between .10 and .30. Anybody know how to get a more accurate reading? I feel like I'm guessing.
Should I worry about the puffer? What would be the first signs that I'm overloading the tank? One thing is for certain is that the fish are eating alot but I'm trying to be careful not to overfeed them and shoot to keep the ammonia from shooting through the roof.
It is possible that I'll learn a good lesson out of this and get a bunch of "I told you so's" But if you feel like doing that wait until the final word on my fish and everybody on the board can have a chance to tell me.
Thanks again for the help.

Let me be the first to say, NO FLAMES HERE. Sounds like you know your pushing it. The ammo rise is a sign of overpopulation,But it also happens evrytime you add a fish. Keep checkin' it.Usually a sign of distress is when a fish looses its color,Gets lighter. I don't think "darker" is stress. I forget, how big is the tank? Puffers can get large.GOOD LUCK STEVE
